Meet Kabul Bukhari, Pahari folk singer with a ‘Golden Voice’
One of the three finalists in the famous Kashmiri singing reality show,
'Miley Sur', Syed Kabul Bukhari has come a long way since 2009. He has
established himself as a prominent folk singer with many describing him as the
'Golden voice of Kashmir'. Watch him as he talks about his inspiration, his
music career, love for language and future plans.
The 32-year-old Bukhari is considered as a music sensation in the Pahari
community. He is a well known folk and sufi singer from remote village of
Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. He did his primary schooling from
his village, then Srinagar and later moved to Mumbai.
“Though I have set up a studio in Mumbai,
my focus has always been promoting my own culture and language through my
songs. I will continue to sing in Pahari so that our language thrives and
shines,” he said.
Kabul who has studied music said, “I have
sung in different languages but Pahari has always been my priority. I request
others too to save this language and culture.”
